Man I love the internet, what a great scrappy tool, my team mate over at Core-dinations, Linda Beeson introduced me to this inspirational site, there is a lot of amazing talent over there and the color combos really rock, this is my use of this weeks color pallette.

Lovin the sunshine

Well I hope that everyone had a great weekend, I certainly did. We installed a new toilet the old one was cracked and not pretty. We got out our trailer to get it all ready for camping and my girlfriend and I went to the beach for the first time this season. I got some great shots and was instantly inspired to scrap them. Hope your weekends were equally wonderful. All Paper is Core-dinations (tidal wave, admiral blue, argos, roasted red pepper and a white wash) brads are by cloud nine & doodlebug & American crafts, fiskars wave punch, and tiny alphas by Carolins creations. A quick man Card

So May is just flying by and before we know it we will be into June. For me June is all about the men and boys in my life. So I thought this year I would try to devote that month of scrapping to the guys. So trying to get in to the male vibe I created this card for my father in laws birthday. My husband laughed at me as I hopped into the bed of his truck put my paper down on the checker plateing and sanded. When I got into the house he says is there nothing safe from scrapbooking?" Nope I said I am headed out to the shop next to see what other shapes I can find."

Scrap Panache with Cortney Ophoff

So I have had a wonderful long weekend, busy with family, friends had some great surprises and a Scrap night with the girls. Awesome!! For those of you who have been with me here since the beginning, you may remember me mentioning my friend Cortney Ophoff (the gal who inspired me to start blogging). I met her (so to speak) on the Daily Inspirations design team and loved her style and work instantly.

I love it when scrapbookers are given the same challenge to work on, I enjoy seeing the comparrison. So I asked Cortney if she would like to do a monthly challenge like this with me. She agreed and so we are calling it Scrap Panache. I came up with the challenge this month because I needed some motivation. I have had flocking sitting on my desk since October so I challenged us to use green, buttons and flocking. Anything goes!! This is what I created, I tell you, flocking was fun but what a MESS, I tried a whole bunch of adhesives some worked better than others, but when it all was said and done, I liked my Xyron the best. So here is what I did, I cut a 1 in strip of white cardstock and ran the whole thing through my Xyron, then I poured the flocking powder on it and then randomly punched out circles and popped them up over my pattern paper. For buttons I used the big green button on my faux envelope and I used my cuttlebug embossing strip to emboss little buttons across the bottom. The green is kinda obvious. Now pop on over to Cortney's Blog LIVE CAPTURE CREATE and see what she came up with.

Products used are Core-dinations Cardstock, Basic Grey pattern paper, doodle bug flocking, the button box buttons and sass a frass lass stamp. TFL

Look at Me

So in this layout, I really tried to emulate Dr Suess style, which is actually quite tricky. When I saw this photo I immediately thought to use a Suess quote, so I went to my sons book shelf, pulled out my very worn copy of Cat in the Hat and used the color scheme, white space and doodley style. It matched perfectly to my sons goofy playful photo. I will definitely be headed back to his bookshelf for more ideas.. All papers are Core-dinations and the letters are by Adorn it TFL:)

Just 2 pieces of paper

I was cruising the magazine submission calls as I sometimes do to get the Mojo going and I spotted this Challenge at Scrapbook trends. They called it Minimalism and boy is it ever, all you have to work with is 1 piece of pattern paper and 1 piece of cardstock. No other embellishment unless it is made from the paper. I want to attempt this challenge twice, once with the emphasis on the patten paper the other with the emphasis on the cardstock. Here is my first take, this one is the Pattern paper version, I'm not sure if using ink and stuff is cheating, but the spirit of the challenge is there. I really like how grungy it turned out.

With each step

Happy Mothers Day everyone, this morning I was to be treated to breakfast in bed but my 3 year old told me I was not allowed to eat in bed. LOL So we're having a lovely waffle breakfast together. I will keep this post short, because for me mothers day is about just being with my boys. So I will share with you this quick layout about watching them grow, for most of us Mom's this process goes by way to quickly. Enjoy every minute, there will never be enough of them for this Mom. All papers are Core-dinations, ribbon in by MM. TFL :)

Get out your old tools

This has been a wonderful week for me, I was so busy that is flew by and now it is Friday Night and my hubby is home. My rainy evenings were full of creative time after the kids went to bed. I spent the last couple nights working on my projects for Core-dinations. It has been so inspiring talking the other ladies and sharing Idea's, all and all I am both charged and humbled by the creative energy. Head over to their new blog and check out what Kim Moreno did. This is my very first project for them and a card that I made for a little old school challenge that we did. We were challenged to use the tools we first started scrapping with. My first tools were my paper trimmer, punches and my Mom's pinking shears. I love using my fiskars trimmer to emboss and deboss paper. So easy and effective, So ladies I challenge you to break out some of your old tools and see what you can come up with. TFL :) Lydia

Mothers Day Card

Wow it is already Thursday, this week is just flying by. Last night I was in a bit of creative funk so I pulled out my scraps box and went to work on a card for mothers day. I finally used my new Cuttle bug, I bought it over a month ago and I just haven't been inspired to pull it out. I have to say I love the swiss dot folder. Anyway here is the card now I just have to make one more!

Good Morning, well our sunshine has left and it is another wet day on the west coast, but as inspiration was flowing during the sunny weather I managed to create this layout.

Products used are Cardstock by Core-dinations ,bazzil, DCWV, Fancy Pants Pattern Paper, Letter stickers by Adornit, sass a frass lass and thickers, buttons by the button box, stamps used by Gel-e-tins, gems by mambi.

Another great use for the punch

Well I hope all of you had a very Happy Scrappy Day yesterday, I only got to putter a little, playing with some flocking, but I will share that with you later. I was actually playing softball yesterday, I hit a homerun (pat on the back for me).

Last week I created this layout for a cluster challenge over at Daily Inspirations. I really wanted the page to reflect all the elements of my table, a little teal, green and yellow, some thing shiny, and something floral. I love the little bunny he is actually the place card that I created for my guests. For those of you wondering the graph stuff on the sides was done with magic mesh and a really dry paint brush technique and I wanted to share with you yet another technique with the most popular of scrapping tools, the punch.
So get out your favorite punch and give it a try. This one is the corner shape by ek success, Punch a piece of thick scrap cardstock (if yours is not think enough punch two pieces and put them together), position it onto the front of your layout, and then turn it over and using a stylus dry emboss. If you are using Core-dination paper like I have here give it a little sanding for dimention.
Have fun everybody!!

Little slide big smiles

As I prepared to make this post I looked back at some of my other posts and it would seem that I have been really favoring the red and teal color combo. Here is another one in that same color combination. It’s January’s Make it yours challenge over on the Scrapbooks etc. blog. Head on over there to see the original by Lisa Storm. All papers are by Core-dinations and I thought that I would share the technique for doing the groovy border.
I wanted to use my cuttle bug folders for this technique and since my paper would not fit through the machine I had to figure out another way. Nessesity is the mother of all invention right? So place the folder on the edge of the paper
Go to your kitchen and grab the rolling pin, and firmly press down while rolling it over the entire folder.
Then remove the folder and lightly sand the top. Voila, easy right.
Have a great day!
