Happy Birthday Lil Red Rocket

I'm in love with the hand made stuff right now, whether by my hand or someone else's. It feels good to use something you know is one of a kind. You all know I love My little bit of Whismy, lately I have been cruising around etsy looking for scrappy treats and I also recently found this place, Lil red Rocket through my friend Kim. This week they are celebrating their first birthday with a sketch challenge. The prize is some of there fabulous buttons. I have been so tempted by their traffic signs and the frogs, and all the vintage goodies. I would love to win some! Anyways here is the sketch and my layout.
I just got some of this new crate paper and I just love the colors, Plus I can add it to the list of collections that go fabulously with Core-dinations Chocolate box collection.

Happy Birthday Lil Red Rocket

Mmmm guts {giggle}

So today is the day that I pull out all the Halloween decorations, I love decorating for this time of year and I especially love pumpkins, I will be heading out to the patch with the boys if the rain ever stops. Here is the layout that I put together for this months color challenge at 3 Scrappy boys. I used this weeks sketch from creative scrappers as inspiration. I did not want to have so much negative space and I wanted to add more photos.....so this is the result.
I had so much fun creating this little pumpkin piecing
Such a great little perch for my whimsy crow.

Monday Monday

Oh boy do I have a case of the apres holiday lazies, I feel like sitting around in my robe, sipping my coffee and watching cartoons. Weather here has been wicked windy and rainy so I am not exactly inspired to go outside either. What a great day to create!! I just got my hands on October Afternoons Seaside Collection, { I am such a sucker for plaid} so I dove right in and created this layout. A little sunshine on a rainy day eh?
and check these out!! I am so stoked about this discovery!!

As most of you can tell I am not much of a flower person, it may have something to do with the fact that I am surrounded by boys and I am a tom boy myself.  Maybe??

Anyways, when I got these flowers from Jillibean soup {they were in my kit from 3 Scrappy Boys} I was not sure what to do with them until...............

Whoo hoo, I love clouds!! and now I have a heart to use too!!
Oh yes the little things make me happy!!

Giving Thanks

My life is no where close to perfect but I have a lot to be truly grateful for.

I am thankful for my family, for the most part we are all healthy and happy. My boys are my world and they make me so proud everyday.
I am thankful for where I live, on a planet that is filled with all sorts of natural disasters, poverty and injustice. I live in a oasis, I am ever grateful that my family has a safe place to grow and to be nurtured.
I am thankful for my friends, the special people who make my life so much more enjoyable, who lift me up, make me laugh and are there when I need to cry or rant.

I am thankful for my ability to create, to be given this gift to share and as a form of expression. It has brought me so much joy and allowed me to meet so many wonderful friends.

There is a list a mile long of the little things that I am grateful for I could go on, but it is these four that I constantly say thank you for and pray that these blessing remain strong and present in my life.

This week I spent a little time saying Thank you to some of you too. Over the last two years there have been several people who have continually supported me here on this blog, they have left comments on almost every post and taken time out of there day to connect with me. To show my appreciation, I have sent these little guys out in the mail. Just a little something to say you have made a difference in my daily life, THANKS!!

Thank you all of you for the wonderful things that you do, your words can really make a difference in somebodies day.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving
Be Thankful!

Apple Harvest

One of the best things about early fall is the abundance of ripe crispy apples. Every year we pick these off my mothers tree and make something with them. One year it was juice {MMMmm yumm} another year baked apples, then pie and this year apple crumble. It is one of those things that falls into the sights and smells of fall category. For these photos I used this months sketch from Imaginisce. The apple cider line has great fall colors, and it goes perfectly with so many of the beautiful shades of brown in the Chocolate Box collection by Core-dinations {one of my favorites, especially this time of year}.
This little apple is another marvelous creation by My little bit of whimsy
Hope that you are all having a happy first week of fall too!!

Happy World Card Making Day

As most of you know, I am only a card maker by necessity, and by that I mean I am too cheap to buy a card when I have all this crafty goodness around me. I don't enjoy the process as much as I do when I scrap, because to me there is no story to tell.

However after discovering that in my sons kindergarten class 14 out of the 20 students are boys. {who said boys are on the decline???} I thought it might be a good idea to have a few quick birthday cards at hand. Using the live loud collection from Imaginisce, I basically put together the same configuration for each card, but changed up the color based on what scraps I had left. I am really happy with the results.

I also stacked their mirror stickers over their cardstock stickers, for a cool effect. I love it when company's make different elements in the same size so that you can put them together.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day, and perhaps you will make a card just because it is World card making day too.

October has arrived {and winners}

As I have mentioned a time or two before I love fall, and there is just something so much fun about being given a day every year just to dress up as something else. I am talking about none other than Halloween. It is not just for kids, I love getting dressed up. I especially love putting on wild make up and sparkles.  When I got my hands on the *NEW Graphic 45 Core-Impressions I knew that I wanted to create something Halloweenish, the black and soft grey the marvelous textures, how could I resist!!
This was my costume last Halloween, I went as a monarch butterfly!
To create the title I stamped the word halloween onto the cardstock and then heat embossed it with gloss black embossing powder, to make it really stand out. The black and orange rox by Queen n co are such a great touch, love there eerie look.

And now for the news you've all been waiting for............the Winners are
drawn from a hat by my 4 year old son.
