Something pretty and new

I love finding new and wonderful things and this weekend while blog cruisin, I came across Pretty little Studio. Apparently they have been around since at least mid 2010 and they have some seriously wonderful and whimsical retro products. So since I was in a scrappy kind of mood I looked up their most recent sketch challenge and played along.

I played along with what I had on hand.......a mix of Echo Park, Jillibean Soup, the awesome embossed word Cardstock is from the color me happy collection by Core'dinations and that fabulous sun burst is from Greatest view

So I'm off to have a lazy sunday and do a little scrappy shopping.

Having fun

This weekend I am taking a little time out from construction to participate in the Sunshine Crop, with Creative Scrappers. If you love sketch's, this is a marvellous blog with a number of talented sketch designers sure to inspire. This weekend is a special event where they have challenges and prizes and all sort of fun stuff going on. So if you wanna join in the fun check it out, we've got a great facebook page going.

I took my inspiration from this sketch, I had a ton of journalling cards from OA so for a fast and easy layout I used a bunch of them in place of the blocks.

I have this brand new embossing folder by lifestyle crafts, that had this star pattern that mimicked one of the pattern papers that I used, so on my Core'dinations cardstock I used my embossing folder and hammer trick.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend

My favorite Ribbon right now

So I am totally late for the Ribbon party over at Core'dinations!! Last week the design team wowed us with all sorts of inspired creations using May Arts ribbon, Check it out!!!
This chevron ribbon was by far my fave you will see it a lot in the coming weeks :)

For this week I cut a collection of circles and embossed them with a variety of folders, most of them from lifestyle crafts.

Sorry about being late with this one, right now I am literally moving mountains and I will show you some updates on the house shortly. Hope you are having a great weekend.

Authentique and Core

All week long Core'dinations has been cranking out the creations with the brand new Authentique, this nostalgic collection of papers was wonderful to work with . The argyle pattern was one of my favourites.

and the sheet of tag, flags and stickers that went with it were incredible. In the middle one was some  ribbon by May Arts, the canvas texture was just what I felt it needed.

Make sure to stop over at the Core Blog, we are having a great give away and our facebook page is fast approaching 6000 likes and we need your help to spread the word.

Getting out of the ground

So friends I have been a little busy this week  and here is what I have been up too, we the start of good weather we are finally building our house. This is where I find out if my hard work planning and design all come together. I know it does not look like much now, but it is in this moment that this becomes permanent. Today I pour the first bit of concrete and after that there will be no more moving the location or turning it or size changes. I want this to be my family home for years to come, so here is hoping I've done it right.

Naturally I want my kids to be a part of the process, it is important to me that they see the value of hard work. So this is my 4 year old wet dowelling the footing under his room

Here is my 6 year old screeting the concrete under his room, they are each so proud of the space that will be theirs to grow up in.

Lastly this week we have had a Canadian air force salute flying over our house, these guys have been practising formations right over our house and  it is like our own air show everyday.
I love it.

Lots to come next week and I will keep you updated on the progress.

Happy NSD

Good Morning Everyone, this morning I am feeling scrappy, it is so good to feel the mojo flowing again. I am continuing to work on my sons first year 8x8 album and here is the latest addition. Just a note: Anyone who has bought or is buying the new Jillibean Soup Game Day Chilli collection, should buy the Kraft Core pack. SERIOUSLY every colour is perfect it was like they were made for each other.

I took a challenge to "lift yourself" and so I chose one of my all time favourite layouts to use for inspiration.
This one!! I had to remove a photo and simplify a few element because of the size difference, but I love the end result.

Have a great day, hope you do something scrappy!!!

First Dip

So for today's layout, I looked to the sketch from October Afternoon for inspiration.
It is another 8x8 but this sketch was nice and simple and easy to change to fit my needs.
I used their Seaside collection

I also got out my Core and paired it up with a little spellbinder fish!!
