Using the mistake

My boys love to use my punches and my cuttle bug, so they were going through my scrap pile and embossing and punching random pieces of paper. One of those pieces of paper was a copy of Pipers birth story that I had printed in a pretty font. However after printing it I discovered it was to small and to scrolly to read, so I tossed it aside. I need to give my kids some credit here, because once they sanded it, embossed it and punched it into circles, they made a wonderfully creative element for my card.

The sentiment is one of SRM's I love those stickers, they completely disappear on every kind of paper. and the whole card is made with my favorite Cardstock. These are some of the colors from Core'dinations new Graphic 45 signature series.

Your Birth, Your Story

Well it only took me eight months to the day to write it, but I finally got down to writing and scrapping Pipers birth story.

There was a lot of writing with this and I did not want the whole page to have to be text so I created a hidden folder.

I made sure that I had a little more width to my journalling page and made a paper hinge

I added a few sparkly touches with punched flowers and Queen N Co's twinkle goose bumps. I love these!

I am not sure if you want to read the story, but I love reading about other peoples experiences so here it is. Joyful Spring to you all

Lydia

Your Birth, Your Story

You were due August 7th but on the morning of the 2nd my water broke, however nothing happened. Your Dad had gone to work so there was no need to rush things. I took it easy and called the midwife, I let her know that she was on standby and went about my day. Duane arrived home at 7pm and I then set about trying to get labor going, I stomped down the driveway, I stretched, I paced, I did everything that I could think of and still NOTHING, at midnight I gave up and went to bed. I woke up in the morning and Joanne my midwife came to check on me, she told me because my water had broken over 24 hours ago that she needed to advise a pediatrician, however since fluids were clear and my baby showed no signs of distress, we were still ok to stick with our home birth plan.

At around 10 o’clock my Mom came by and we had a cup of tea and a game of scrabble, she beat me for the first time in a long time, I am sure it was due to my distracted state. Duane was home and working on the drywall in the garage, Levi was with us. At this time I still felt nothing, not a pain, a twinge or a tightening, nada. I was getting anxious for labor to start, I so wanted to meet you and find out who you were and have this pregnancy come to an end. At 12:30 I had a bite to eat and since nothing was happening I thought I may as well have a shower and a nap. I stepped into the shower, washed my hair and then closed my eyes and tried to relax. I stood under the warm spray with my eyes closed and rocked my hips back and forth. I must have been standing like that for a few minutes, because when I opened my eyes Duane was directly in front of me. Needless to say it startled the bejeesus out of me and just like that the first contraction hit. I got out of the shower toweled off and had another contraction, I then texted my midwife “apparently to get labor started your husband needs to scare you in the shower. Contractions have started” Joanne wrote back “Ok I am on my way” The time was 1:03.

She arrived 15 minutes later and my contractions had picked up to every 2-3 minutes. While the midwife set up, I walked around a bit, but things were moving fast so it was only a few minutes before I felt the need to be close to the bed. At 1:45 my contractions were less than a minute apart. For the most part they were intense, but not that bad, I was able to breath through them fairly easily. At 1:50 I had this sensation that is hard to describe, I felt the same thing with Levi, kind of like an elastic snapping back and I knew you were very close to being born. I climbed into bed and let the next few contractions take me, these ones are the hardest and then it was time to push, one push, two, three you crowned, breath, breath, four you were born. At 2:03 I lifted you onto my chest and glanced down to see your perfect little girl parts and my soul soared, “ I have a daughter, we have a daughter” My eyes welled up and I repeated it. Duane who was right next to me thought he had seen something different, so he leaned over to me and quietly asked “are you sure?” in a moment of disbelief, I lifted the blanket that covered you and double checked, yup you were a perfect, beautiful little girl, Daddy had just seen the cord. He ran out of the room and called EVERYBODY, his mom, his sister, my best friend Shelley who had Tannin, and told them you were here. All the while I held you in my arms and let all the love I possessed pour into you. Daddy was so excited we had to call him back to cut the cord.

As soon as you were weighed, looked over and wrapped up, your brother was allowed back into the room. My Mom had escorted him out when labor got serious and they went to the kitchen to make tarts. He clambered up beside me and the first thing he asked was how you got here, I said “Levi this is your new baby sister,” and he looked at me bright eyed and said “Oh that is just what I wanted” We spent a few moments together and then Daddy and Levi got you dressed while I went to have a shower. When I was all cleaned up, I nursed you. You nestled in close to my heart where you found a spot to forever reside. You stayed there until you fell asleep, all the while the rest of your family poured in to meet you, Your biggest brother Tannin came home, your Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nana, Papa, Dama and Friends all wanting to hold you, and glimpse our little miracle. My Piper your birth was as beautiful as you are and there is a life time of love awaiting you.

Forever and always

Mommy

Guilty Pleasure

Do you ever feel guilty for scrapping one of your children to much? I am starting to feel a tad bit guilty for scrapping baby girl so much. My boys have not noticed, but I am afraid they might soon. I am just having so much fun with all the feminine things that have been in my stash for years.

Here are some of my favorite things today, feathers, sequins, pearls and I hid my journalling tag in this adorable glassine envelope.

Almost everything is Core'dinations and October Afternoon, the pearls are queen n co and the chevron button is from Greatest View {you should check out her new Easter release, it is so cute}

Also don't forget that you still have time to try out for the Core'dinations Design team, there is no team out there that I would recommend more. Check HERE for the details!

Bright Sunshiny Day

Say hello to little Miss Sunshine, Oh my! This baby girl has my heart, she makes me smile even in the middle of the night. I can't believe that she is seven months old already. She is sitting up by herself, I love this stage, I hope it lasts, but somehow I don't think so, she wants to go so badly.

A little close up of the tickets that I designed with my Klic n Kut, I also created the title down the side with it. I've been having fun lately creating my own cut files. Now I just need to learn how to share them.

In other BIG news, it is that time of year again DESIGN TEAM CALL

Hampton arts and Core

This week Core'dinations has teamed up with Hampton Arts and I was lucky enough to recieve this playful set of creatures, called patch work pals. Here they are on a layout.

I used this adorable little squirrel and girlied her up a little with a Core flower. This stamp had such lovely houndstooth detail and so I used the back side of my Core to get a softer, less textured look, and then cut it out with one of my spellbinders dies.

and this nuts about you sentiment was just perfect.

Don't forget we've got more on the way and prizes too!!

Home again home again Jiggity Jig

Oh I am so glad to be home, CHA was a blast, it was so good to see all my wonderful friends and all the new goodies that will be hitting stores soon. I am so blessed to have such amazing opportunities and be surrounded by great people. A special thanks to my friend and fellow designer Jennifer Edwardson, without her I would not have gone this year. This photo was taken at the graphic 45 booth, they had a fun dress up booth with all sorts of neat steam punk options

I love hats, wish I could have kept this one.

So here are some of my favourites from the show, I loved simple stories and their snap Collection there were so many wonderful pre made, easy to use embellishments. They are meant for their album sleeves but they would look great on scrapbook pages. This was their travel line.

I love the cut out pages!

pockets folders and embellishments

These are some of the element in the basics snap line, I love the bright colors

Here are there brads and tags, I love that camera!

My other favourite from the show was Jillibean Soup, their booth is always so creative and their lines this year were a great mix.

Fresh Vegetable

Chilled Cucumber

New Alphas

These placemats are so cool!

These precut phrases are perfect for so many things

and this is a little Random, but WOW, this is an entire wall of bottle caps

That is it for now, I am in the process of loading a whole bunch more fun photos.

The first week of 2013

This week has been a pretty good start, We started our new year at a wonderful friends house, it was a whole night of delightful appy's, games and conversation. Then at the stroke of midnight we had our own little pop of fireworks. It was loud and boisterous, just how I like it.

I have been working on getting my December Daily done, here are pages 9,10 and 11
9 is about all the wonderful book that we read in December, there are over 25 now. I wrapped them all last year which was kinda cool to open every night for the boys, but it took forever to wrap all of them and it seemed like a bit of a waste of paper. So this year I just put them on the shelf and the kids took turns choosing one ever night. These books are special and are only out at Christmas so it makes it a treat to read them.

Levi Had several birthday get togethers this yeas, 2 with family and one with friends, our current house is simply too small to fit them all, on this one Mommy made some of the best cupcakes I have ever had, brown sugar icing and butter pecan cakes, seriously delish.

In this one my boys are trying to hide the Christmas pickle, they look forward to part the most when we decorate the tree.

Right now I am counting down the days until I leave for CHA, I am both unbelievably excited and totally nervous as this will be my first time away from Baby Girl. I am sure she will be fine, I am not so sure about my husband.
