Green Concern

This month there is a huge focus on our planet in my community, our school has gone green, reducing garbage and encouraging more reusable products. In my home we celebrated Earth Day Last week by turning down the heat and using less lights. I planted several new trees and started a veggie garden. On top of these things I still worry about what other ways I can change my life to work better for both my budget and mother nature. That is the focus of this layout.

I used a variety of lines from October Afternoon and this beautiful embossed Cardstock from the Basic grey  Core'Impression line. Other goodies like this adorable black bird are made by My little bit of Whimsy, and the sun burst button by a marvellous company in Australia called Greatest View.

I hope I have gotten you thinking about some of the changes you could make to help out our planet.
Have a wonderful weekend

Bunny Lunch

Easter approaches rapidly, looking at the calender is a little frightening. I am soooo not ready, heck I still have Christmas stuff up!!! However I got into the mood by scrapping last years Easter photos. LOL!! This was my table setting!!

Check out this little close up of the My little bit of Whimsy bunny pin, ridiculously cute!! To give the title a home of its own, I used Core'dinations and one of my spellbinders shapes and embossed the whole shape instead of  cutting it out, I love how that turned out!!

This chipboard is by one of my favorite Aussie companies 3 Tails and I used a little Smootch spritz on it!!

Looks like this might be the week to put away the other Holidays and get into spring cleaning. Oh Yipppeeee {yeah right}

Inside the cover

So a while back I was asked to participate in the cover challenge with Canadian Scrapbbooker Magazine and although I did not make the front, I made the "another take on the cover section" with this cute layout.
I drew my inspiration from this cute little guys tie, it is hard to see but there are cars on there and echo parks little boy collection matched it perfectly :)

The fabulous buttons are by my little bit of whimsy and that awesome checker plated cardstock is in the Jenni Bowlin bright Core'impressions collection.

Soooooo long

Hello friends, well that was a far long sabbatical that I intended!! I have literally been recovering my energies after one of the nastiest flu's I have ever had, plus this pregnancy has knocked me clean off my feet at night. It has been a double whammy!! I am starting to get my energy back now, and have finally headed back to my scrappy space. To get my mojo going I decided to participate in the Canadian Scrapbooker, Sketchy Challenge. This is the sketch that we have to work with.

and here is the layout I put together

I used 2 photos instead of 3 and tried to use as many elements from the blanket as I could, I used pattern papers from Echo park and Jillibean soup that are similar to what is in the blanket, the adorable little duck is actually scanned from the fabric that I used and then I printed him onto Core'dinations Cardstock

The textured buttons are from My little bit of whimsy.
I love this little blanket and I can't wait to have someone to put to bed with it!!

I created a cute whimsy cluster, is that apple not perfect!! Makes me smile :)

On this page I used the new Core'dinations spotted paper {sigh, I need more already lol}
I paired it with echo park, love those little rain drops!!

I used Whismy clouds

and the yellow heart button was just the right yellow

To my Canadian friends, wishing you a very happy thanksgiving this weekend, to all my other friends have a great weekend

Today's Whimsy creations

Today is my day to post on the My little bit of whimsy blog, while I was creating this month I needed to change to shade of pink on the heart and butterfly. Both the butterfly and heart were a baby pink color and so by adding straw color with my copics, it changed it to a darker shade of coral to match the Tim Holtz Core'dinations.

Here is the close up of the butterfly, I also added a little teal to the texture of the butterfly to make is stand out more!

Next up is this layout, Part of my Disney album, love that border by October afternoon see how it Mimics the light in the background of the top photo :)

I used my favorite Whimsy button, the woodgrain

and a little orange lady bug!!

With only a few more days of summer I am out and about enjoying the sun and getting all my outdoor work finished. Fall will so be here and I have some great rainy day projects ahead. Until then I hope you are all enjoying your summer too!! {except my good friends in Aus.......hope you are enjoying your cool winter LOL}

Page Map Love

Summer is finally here for us on the west coast and I must admit that I have been outside and soaking up the rays, after all it won't be long until the kids are back to school and I have all the time in the world {ha ha funny aren't I?} to craft. As I have said in the last couple posts, life has been a little bumpy and so I am starting of August right with a focus on my family.

Since the nights are when I do most of my scrapping, during the summer I am shorter on time so I love to reach for a sketch to get me started and some of my favorites are from page maps. This month The imaginisce team had the opportunity to create the inspirations for the newsletter and I was thrilled to participate.

This was the fantastic sketch that I got to work with

here is my layout with some of my favorite products

This adorable little frog by My little bit of Whimsy

This wood grain cardstock by Core'dinations

and I used my spellbinders nestablilties to create the date fish

Pulled all together by Imaginisce's Happy Camper line.

To lie or not to lie....

Well the sad news is that I had to put the family cat down, she was such a wonderful cat with such personality and was my eldest son's best bud. So now what do I tell him? The truth is gonna break his heart and I really just want to tell him she went mouse hunting and has not returned. But I suppose kids need closure just as much as adults right?? {sigh} Not sure what to do! I think today might be a good day to sooth their souls by the sea and my own. Fill the day with good things.

Here are some good things that I posted with My Little bit of Whimsy this month.

Some great texture buttons

and using a cloud button in a unique fashion

Love a little whimsy

So today on the whimsy blog, I've posted with a new sketch challenge.
Here is the layout that I created for it and I would love to see what you can create. You've got a chance at winning a Whimsy sampler so head over to the MLBOW Blog to check out all the details.

For my layout I used the Imaginisce enchanted line along with some great stickers by My little shoebox. This beautiful orange is called tangerine by Core'dinations which I partnered up with a little white wash color called screen door. Of course the amazing buttons are by My Little bit of whimsy. I am so proud and excited to be serving another term on this design team, and did you know it was just featured in this months Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine??? How cool is that????

Winner and a challenge

Journaling is such an important part of a scrapbookers journey to preserve memories and tell stories.
SO this month at Core'dinations we are issuing a challenge….we want to see your Journaling. Here is what you need to do for a chance to win some CORE’DINATIONS CARDSTOCK!
1) JOURNAL, {click here to see the unique way Melissa from the Core' DT did her journalling}.
2.) Use Core’dinations Cardstock (it must be a visible component of the layout)
3.) Link your project to the CORE'DINATIONS blog post or post it on our Facebook page. Make sure you “like” us, too!
4.) Show off a cool Core technique and we will throw in an additional chance to win
The rest is up to you!
Deadline for this is June 15th by midnight PST.

With Father Day close at hand, I wanted to do a layout on my husband, in our house he is the hardest person for me to photograph, he gets very uncomfortable in front of the camera, so I am allows trying to shoot when he is not aware. This layout is one of those, he is not looking but it tells the story of his love all the same.

I used the New Echo Park dots and stripes, I love love love all the masculine colors and the basic patterns were perfect for what I wanted to do, I mixed them with some Core'impressions, that diamond pattern is from the Graphic 45 collection and dappled MLBOWhimsy buttons and I-rock bling.

And Oh yeah a WINNER, that is the part you've been waiting for right.
The winner is..................
Lucy who said
" came over from Imaginisce. I am a new follower and glad they sent me over. Can you come over and organize my scrap room? LOL I wish mine looked like yours :) "

Congrat Lucy please email me your address and I will get your parcel in the mail

It worked great with my Fancy Pants Core'Impressions and My whimsy buttons.

Feeling Challenged

This month I decided to find some challenges to kick start my mojo so I hopped around to some of my favorite manufacturers blogs, the first one was October Afternoon, where they have a color challenge happening and it inspired me to scrap this photo and pull out all my blues.

My Whimsy bird, bug and buttons were a great match, I just went around pulling out everything out that was blue!! So much fun!!

I love the color combo of orange and blue,  so I used that as my accent color.

When it was all finished I had used OA's Schoolhouse, Seaside, 5 & Dime, Road Trip and Report Card Collections.

What Challenges are you working on??

Imaginisce May Challenge

So to get May started we've got another fun challenge, I love the challenges where we try to do things for the boys

So the challenge is to:

1. Create a masculine themed layout/card/project using Imaginisce product.
2. You MUST also use one of the Snag 'em Stamps on your project.

Naturally the project must be at least 75% Imagininsce projects and of course we have a fabulous prize at the the end of the month to give away. So join in the fun and give it try.

Here is what I came up with. I used the apple cider collection I love all the browns and used some of the brand new tear drop i-rocks and I loved using my snag ems as a border on the bottom.

Also used on this layout are some of my favorite Whimsy's All the clouds the beautiful brown bird and the neato button.

I can't believe that it's May already, we are almost half way through 2011. Right now I am probably up in the air and on my way to Australia, It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful so I've got my fingers crosses because I would really like to see some of the outback. I am incredibly exited about teaching along side some incredible designers like Teresa Collins, Sherry Mendoza from Prima, Jenny Steiner from Clear Snap and Sarah Moore from Maya Rd just to name a few. This trip is bound to be a ton of fun and I can't wait to share when I get back.  TTFN :)

March brought in with a whoop...

So let me describe to you all in 2 words why I have not blogged..........the flu. YUCK!! Goodness me that is awful, it hit our house like a hurricane. And this Mommy was wiped out with the rest of them.....It is one thing to be sick, but at the same time as 2 boys. Excuse me, can I pass!! When I am in my new home, I will appreciate 2 bathrooms so much more. Anyways on to the crafty portion of this post. On Oscar night my family celebrated my nieces 1st birthday. {I can't believe she's one already}. She is the most beautiful and charming little girl and I love her to bits. Anyways I got her a beautiful green tutu {oh yes you will be seeing that on a page in the future } and I made her this card.
This fairy stamp is by Stamping bella,  I don't get to do fairies very often, but I just could not resist these.  This pretty gal is colored with copics........I'm just learning to use them. The base of the Card is Core'dinations Gemstone, and the finishing touch is a hand made button by my little bit of whimsy.

Also because it is March 1st Imaginisce's newest challenge is up, and this time with a twist. The rules:

Use Melinda's sketch,
and incorporate the following game plan into your completed card using at least 75% Imaginisce products:
1. Three Patterned Papers
2. Three Colors
3. Three Embellishments
(It's all about three's - well March is the third month)
Heres the sketch!
Have fun and don't forget to link it up here, for the chance to win!

Debut at Got Sketch?

I am still away at CHA and having an incredible time, I can't wait to fill you in on all my finds and adventures, but alas I am travelling with nothing but my i-pad which makes blogging a little tricky. Since today is my debut over on the Got Sketch blog, I really wanted to share with you my creation so I pre-scheduled this post {now that I have found that function} and am excited to share. If you are not familiar with Valerie's blog it is chalk full of wonderful designers and a ton of inspiration. I've used several of her sketches before and was really pumped about being invited to participate. Here is my layout, based on sketch #109.

I am in love with this line from October Afternoon, I just love this map paper, it reminds me of winnie the pooh's 100 hundred acre woods.
This collection was also the perfect match for some of my acorns from My little bit of whimsy.
After the show is over, I will be in Disney land with my kids for a week and then I will be back, with tons of photos and fresh inspiration.....so stick around.

You don't want to miss this because you know they are giving away some of that paper goodness. Here are the layouts that I created with this collection. I just love all the teal and red, it really is one of my favorite color combo's.

This collection is so versatile, be sure to check out some of the other designers stuff, because it is AMAZING!!

Today is also my first post on the my little bit of whimsy blog, showing off some of my latest creations including this one.

Close up of those fantastic Whimsy buttons!!

Only a week left until I leave for CHA, I am so excited to see all the new releases in person. If any of you are gonna be there be sure to come by the Core-dinations booth  and say Hi.  Today Core-dinations is showcasing the new Basic grey Whimsy patterns, so take a minute to pop by their blog and leave some love for a chance to win  and see for yourself how fantastic they are. Also if you have a chance check out what Kelly Goree did with this collection, it looks amazing with the BG papers.

I am just so revved it is hard to sleep, but since I have to get up to take my son to school I should probably sign off and get some rest.....TTFN!

Recycled Pin cushion

Like many of you I have a love for stick pins, and I have been on the look out for a pin cushion big enough that I could see all my pins. I have not seen any thing like that, because most of them were not meant for decorative pins. So I went through my extra frames and found this. One of my boys broke the glass in this awhile back so it was in my fix it box. I cut a piece of foam to fit and then used my new cordless glue gun from Imaginisce to adhere this yellow gingham fabric.

And voila!! A pin cushion to show off all my favorite pins. This can either sit on my desk or I can hang it on the wall, but I am so excited.
The pins are mostly my little bit of whimsy and there are a few of my own creations in there as well.

Just Bee

So the Core ladies and I got some amazing goody box's this week and Maya Rd was extremely generous with some fabulous rub ons and chip board. I had been eyeing up this honey comb album ever since CHA and was over the moon excited when it arrived at my door step. It was the first thing that I dug into and here is what I created.
I used some of my all time favorite colors, collections and techniques.
Here is a close up of my crimper leaves and torn flower, isn't that torn edge gorgeous. The little bee is one of my faves from My little bit if whimsy.
The first pages are a little bit about remembering to slow down and just bee
The 2nd and 3rd page are about other very important things to bee.

Here is a close up of the Maya Rd Chipboard letters, I covered them in cardstock, sanded them and then just added a few stitches to them,

Here is a close up of some more chipboard. Maya Rd sent up some of there Mists. I have no idea what the name of the one they sent me was, but it is kinda an opaque white sparkle. So for many of the chipboard elements {title BEE and this heart and the little tree}, I used my Copic markers and colored them before spritzing them. That way I can have any color sparkle I want. YUP I love this!!!

Here is the final page. I used the fiskars texture plate to create the embossed honey comb pattern and the torn Chocolate box by Core was the perfect spot use the Maya Rd Rub-ons.

All the pattern papers and embellishments are by Jillibean Soup. Buttons are by My little bit of Whimsy. Photo corners are by Scrapbook adhesives.

Thanks for dropping by
