A differrent kind of journey with Road trip

So here is a rare peek at little ol me, this layout is all about the battle of the bulge, and is probably one of my more personal layouts. After my boys were born, I kinda gave up who I was and devoted my heart, soul and body to these little wee ones, not that I regret that, but there came a time that I really got tired of what I looked like and I had to do something about it. It was not a fast or magical transformation, it took me months of 1-2 pounds a week to get to where I am now. but I am proud of it and I thought that I should take the time to document it. Perhaps this will help if I decide to have another baby, something to show " I did it once and I can do it again". My Heart and soul still belong to my boys, but I took my body back and it feels great.

Delicious

Oh summer is here, and it is hot!!! Whew, thank goodness for backyard pools and popsicles. About a month ago My Little Shoebox sent each of the girls at Core-dinations a fabulous paper collection , mine was appropriately named enjoy life. I thought it was the perfect paper for these photos, I even got a chance to use a little pink { a first for me }. I love how the chocolate box paper went with this layout! Hope your summer is delicious! Products used Cardstock by Core-dinations, pattern paper by My Little Shoebox, buttons by button box, fiskars punch

You are my universe

Another wonderful weekend gone by, this weekend we went camping with all of my husbands cousins, which includes 9 fabulous kids. We spent long afternoons in the water, a fantastic rope swing kept the kids busy from sun rise to sun set and nights were spent sitting by the fire talking, cooking hot dogs and making smores.Last post I mentioned my new fab purchases, I love the little chipboard book that I found for $1.50, the front page was this great giant flocked star. I also got my hands on the new October Afternoon Road Map, (Whoo hoo) and I used a bunch of it here. Also check out the neat zig zag tear, this was created with my fiskars paper tear edger super easy and really cool. Products used Core-dinations Whitewash, Pattern paper by October Afternoon, Chipboard by MAMBI, Letter stickers by Imagisence and My Little Shoebox, Brads by Making Memories. TFL:)

Travelling Scrapper

So wow did I have a good weekend!! Why you ask, Well I am one of those very lucky ladies that lives on a island where there are 6 major scrapbooking stores and that does not include the 2 Micheal's. Mind you the island that I live on is the size of Hawaii so it requires a little travelling. I was off to see my husband, who is working out of town (again)(still) and along the way I hit every scrapbook store. Found me some goodies!!! The top of my list was October afternoons Road Trip (love this) and a bunch of chipboard books,{will be using this very soon} and some great new stamps, along with a few shiny objects , what girl can resist. I broke down and bought a Wii which I have to say was an awesome idea! When you are stuck in a hotel room with one baby down for a nap and trying to keep a toddler quiet Wii fishing is apparently the answer. Anyways all round it was a really good weekend the boys got to see their Daddy and go on an adventure and I got to do a little shopping.

So for today's project I am getting a jump start on my gift box's for Christmas, I am even doing some cards, maybe this will be the year I make all my own, (sad I know) I usually buy them. The is a recycled hot chocolate can that I cleaned and recovered with two shades of green color core I embossed them with my swiss dot folder and then glued them around the tin. Topped it off with a label and some buttons and I am good to go.
This tin is created with the fabulous CORE-DINATIONS

A really cool site with a really big contest

So I was cruising around the net and came across this huge prize, a 1000$ at The Cuttle bug spot . Wow, and if that were not enough they have some great ideas there especially for those of you who just love Core-dinations like I do, with all the embossing ideas that are on this blog they had me convinced to press the little follow button on the right. Pop over and check it out!! and just because I can't do a post without a project here is a card that I made recently, I created the cool texture with my fiskers crimper by folding my squares in half then running them through the crimper on an angle, unfolding and sanding. Give it a try there are so many possibilities.Products used Core-dinations Cardstock, k&Company Pattern paper and buttons by buttons in a bag, also used is fiskars crimper and kitchen apron punch

Paper piecing with Core-dinations

I have a love for creating custom embellishments, sometimes digging in and adding ridiculously small details can be very absorbing and therapeutic. It usually just takes some time pulling the idea together. In the case of this layout I wanted the guitar be the star of the show, so I created a die cut for my machine {I have a klic-n-kut}, then I cut two guitars, one in light brown one in dark, I love the detail that you can add with Core-dinations, that is how I created the frets. I then used an old ek success punch for the swirly shape in the center and sanded the body of the guitar to add a wood grain. For another customizing idea notice how the strings in the photo extend off the page, this is easily done with the track in you paper cutter and my handy fiskars stylus.
Products used Core-dinations cardstock and junkitz pattern paper and DMC mettalic thread and bazzill tiny brads and basic grey chipboard alphas.

Sad Face

Over at Daily Inspirations today the challenge was to create a layout using a photo that was not the usual happy photo. I have had this photo for a while, my poor little boy was in the process of learning to run, you know when they go forward by leaning it the direction that they want to go!! Anyways my little cutie ran head first into our big toy box and ended up with this shiner. I created this grid with my fiskars trimmer and stylus and placed embossed and debossed sqaures ( I love that swiss dot folder) in them.
On a sadder note I watched the memorial for Micheal Jackson this morning, and what a moving remembrance of the incredible artist and man. It seems that at some point in each of our lives he inspired us to move, whether that moment was physical or emotional. Rest in peace Micheal you have made me dance and sing.

All Aboard

When the sun is shining sometimes it is so hard to get motivated, and when it gets hot I don't feel like being indoors. Summer has certainly slowed my rate of production. However last night after it cooled off I got going on this page. I loved the railway ticket and the great image of the train and these photos of my son or some of my current faves so I put it all together around them, I love the rusty look of the Core-dination chocolate box in this so making a rusty embossed track at the bottom seemed like a cool idea. I hope everybody is enjoying a very happy 4th of July. I headed out to enjoy the sun.
Cardstock is Core-dinations Chocolate box, pattern paper is by basic grey, the gears are timholtz and brads by american crafts TFL:)
