All over the Place

Welcome December, life just keeps getting busier doesn't it? No matter, I find little moments to myself here and there.  I am enjoying the freedom to do just what ever inspires me in the moment these days. Last week I picked up my crochet for the first time in a decade, I forgot how soothing that can be, and today I am laying a tile floor. I am all over the place and loving it. A few short weeks ago was my annual crafty retreat at Wyldflower B&B with my girl friends. It was sensational as always. I took the opportunity to work on baby girls' first year album. I need to try  to get some details down before I forget them, that first year baby haze can be brutal on the memory. Here are a few of the pages i got done.  they are all 8x8's I love this size, just perfect and not to over whelming to work with.

This will be the cover page

I love the little anchor in the corner, this is one of Juliana Michaels die cut designs {Heart}

This year for my retreat I did not have a lot of time to pre plan so for these pages I just grabbed my favourite tools and products, My Core'dinations, box of October Afternoon and my Queen n co Gems and pearls and kept it simple.

Any ways gotta run and grab the kids from the bus.

A whole bunch of cards

Ok today I have a whole bunch of cards to share, just stuff I have made for a variety of reasons.
This first one is for my sons teacher.

You see my boys switched schools this year and although my eldest is happy as a pig in mud, my youngest is really struggling to make new friends and not having an easy time with the new routine. I have tried a few things to help him out, first I tried to essentially bribe the class by letting him hand out these little treats, they are little meringue kisses. I know that is a bit low, but the teacher would not let me give them out anyways,  in case there were any egg allergies.......dang.

So next up I made him these little playdate cards. The teacher did not feel comfortable collecting the kids phone numbers to help facilitate playdates and friendships. So instead I made these cards that my son could give to the kids he liked. Inside it invites the child to our house to play and asks the Mom to contact me at the number provided. I am really hoping this will help my baby boy develop friendships more quickly.

Last year I made this card for a Joanne's Core'dinations display, I created the cut file for the tea cup with my Klic n kut.

and last week I created this one, based on the first one. I just changed the cut file to look like a coffee mug, by elongating the design.

This is another one that I did for Joanne's

Well that's it for today

Whoa...........

Well hello.........it has been a ridiculously long time since my last post. What can I say life happens, and I am ok with that. It means life is full. The kids went back to school last week and we are now falling back into a fall routine. Classic! Yesterday I found some time to scrap, it was so soothing to just dive into this some what complex layout. I wanted it to look simple, but really there is a lot going on. I used my Klic n Kut to create the Core'dinations yellow background and then used a circle punch to punch out a variety of patterns from a whole bunch of  October Afternoon collections. Then measured equally around the perimeter and sewed in the diamonds.

With the sequins, I was hoping to convey movement, seeing as baby girl is now a going concern and is on the run.

I have missed scrapping. I am still working on the new house, it is a long process when you DIY. It has become somewhat a weekend warrior project, that doesn't leave much time or creative energy for my beloved hobby. But the good news is that it now has heat and power. So we are that much closer to a HOME.

Thanks for sticking with me friends.

1st Birthday details

Hey Friends, I hope that you are enjoying your summer, mine has been full, as a Mom I am doing my best to achieve balance. There is a lot of work that needs to be done around here, from the daily tasks of cooking and cleaning, to the progress of the new house. I always have to remind myself to be in the moment, take time for fun and slow down. So for my daughters birthday, I went all out in the creation department and enjoyed every moment.

I sewed her this lovely yellow dress and made the matching hair band

I blew up 60 balloons and strung them up with 300 lights ripped up three bedsheets in

I sewed a cute country banner and created bumble bee water labels

I made Bee hive table labels, made with Core'dinations

and baked a bee hive cake.

My daughter may never remember her first birthday, but I will. It was a wonderful family affair and I am glad I took time out from the hustle and bustle to pull it together. Now back to the grindstone, literally, this week we are moving HUGE rocks for landscaping. I will share that later.

Light it up

Hey there friends hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend, I was lucky enough to have a little crafty time this week so I made a quick birthday card with what ever was sitting on my desk and close at hand. It is all Core'dinations except the fabulous button by Greatest View , the stamp is by Crafters Companion.

The other creation I wanted to share with you is so exciting for me. Last week I showed you my boys room, or the start of them at least. Today I want to share a little piece of my daughters room.
I found this light at a re-store  {a used building supply store}  for dirt cheap.

I know what you are thinking...........ummm you paid for that?
But I had an idea!

So I tore it apart ;) There were just a few pieces.

Then I went ahead and spray painted each and every piece

I hand painted each flower a subtle yellow, painted a ceiling dial and custom painted the ceiling fixture.
When all the details were complete, I reassembled the chandelier.

And this is what it looks like now hanging in my daughters room.

I am in love with this space and this is just the first of the details for her room
I can't wait to see it all come together. I promise I will share.

Wanna See?

Oh my, how are we a week into July already, I am sorry friends I meant to to post the winner of my give away on the first, but summer, celebrations and creation got in the way. Wanna see?
First a classic Birthday card, my sister is a major strawberry fan, so every year I make her a card with strawberries. The strawberries are from October Afternoons go fly a kite collection, but the rest of the card is Farm girl and the card base is from Core'dinations Pastel pack

For creations of a different sort, I have been working on my boys rooms in the new house, and I have to say I am truly thrilled with their paint treatments. My youngest son wanted sun rays so this is what I did for him.

For my eldest he just said he wanted ORANGE, eek...So I painted the majority in orange, but to break it up I painted one wall blue with stripes. I can't wait to see it with it's lights and trim and all the fun stuff, next time I share this room it will be done ;)

and last but not least the WINNER of my give away is..........

thank you so much everyone for your comments and welcome newcomers to my blog. I love having you here!

My first post with October Afternoon

If you are a new friend stopping by from the October Afternoon Blog, WELCOME!! If you are already a friend you know how much I love their stuff.  I am so thrilled to be designing for them this month. Today is my first post on their blog and I created a collection of cards using the brand new Travel girl collection. You can check in out here. I also had a birthday to go to this weekend for a sweet little 1 year old farm boy and so I thought that I would create this little card with the Sasparilla collection.

There is no doubt that one of my favourite OA embellishments are the word stickers, all by themselves they are the little rock stars. Use one or use ten.
They are a fabulous and inexpensive embellishment.

October Afternoon was so generous, {and since my collection is a little out of hand} I would like to share the love with a give away.
Just leave a comment on this blog post and I will enter your name into a draw for these brand new Travel girl Stamps.

and just because they go so well together I am also going to include 3 brand new sets of spectrum noir alcohol markers.

I will choose a winner on the last Friday of June.
Thanks for stopping by
Hopefully we will see you next Friday

The Day has arrived

Today is the day that I have been looking forward to for months. Today is my introduction as October Afternoons June Guest designer. I am so so so so thrilled, words can not describe. Here is a tiny sneaky peak of what is to come.

October Afternoon has been my favorite pattern paper company since they started. So just for fun I went back into my scrapbooking archieves and found these oldies from some of there first collections.

These first 2 are using the night light collection, this was one of the very first collection that I ever bought more than one sheet of.

Mix of weather vane and cherry hill

and these two are from road trip

as you can see I have been a huge fan for a long time.

Check in all month long in June for lots of projects and a great give away ;)

Inside the cover

If you happen to pick up a copy of the spring issue of Canadian scrapbooker you will see this layout within the first few pages, as another take on the cover. If you take a close look you will see that it is almost ALL Core'dinations, the only piece of pattern paper is at the top. The layers of mauve are created with Core Vintage Cardstock that has been embossed and sanded, and then topped with the sewn chevron layer. I really love the effect.

Just Sharing, Thanks
