Jillibirds Dresser

This little dresser is now what holds my thumb tacs and paper clips. Birdhouses seem to be everywhere right now and I love that this piece had drawers and a little perch to put a bird. I found it at the dollar store and then painted it, after it dried a quick sanding on the edges gives it that finished country look, I then cut paper to fit all the spaces minus 1\16 of an inch and adhered it all down with Scrapbook Adhesives Sheets by 3L

I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of the delicious new papers from JB's Chicken noodle collection. Two words LOVE IT, The barn paper was so adorable it took me almost 10 minutes to cut it! Do you get that way?? Where you love the paper so much you are afraid to cut it?? LOL It may be just me!! Also paired with this layout is the new Core Impressions, this is from the JB collection, I am so digging the texture of this paper. More to come soon!!!

Do your worst

So I have never shared this layout, for soooooooo many reasons but the primary one being it is HIDEOUS!!
I am not sure what I was thinking, It was part a a challenge to only use a single sheet of paper and a single sheet of cardstock. But seriously!!! Blech!!! Anyways the reason that I am sharing it with you now is that over at the Paper Poppy Blog, Aphra is having and ugly layout contest, you really should head over and check it out there are some real doozies and I love the discriptions that some of us use to discribe our least favorite layouts and the stories behind them.

Camp crop a lot

Wow it is the middle of Febuary and it finally stopped raining here, just in time for most of my family to feel better. My hubby is the only one to have escaped the bug so far, but after talking to him today I think he might be headed for trouble.

Speaking of heading out {nice transition eh!, Not so much, but what ever}I am getting really excited about Camp Crop a lot, only a month away now and this 4 day scrap extravaganza is SOLD OUT!! Whoo hoo.
I am imagining 4 full days of paper, great food, prizes and friends. I loved  last years and was one of the first ones to sign up this year. This year I was also invited to teach a class and so I put together this creation.

This flip book features one of my favortite Cosmo Cricket Collections {Early Bird} and Core-dinations Cardstock, it has ten pages in all for photos, memorabilia and all sorts of spots for writing. I am really stoked about teaching it and can't wait to get cropping. In the mean time I am putting together page layout packages to work on while I am there.  I love doing this before hand so that while I am there I can crop and talk at the same time. Otherwise with the amount that I chat I would get nothing done at all!!

We make a great Pear

Happy Valentines Day everyone, I am normally not big on the traditional Valentines colors, so I created this card for my hubby. Sadly everyone in my house has been struck by the stomach flu, so it does not look good for a day of chocolate, sweets and love.  I baked sugar cookies with the kids on Thursday before all the crud began. They turned out great. So I feel good about having at least celebrated it a little.

Another thing that I thought was great was this.

My good friend and talented scrapper Aphra Boyler has started her own kit club and she has a whole bunch of great give aways to get things rolling. Pop over to the new blog and leave a some love for a chance to win.

More CHA goodness and a layout

On my list of what was fabulous at CHA was a few collections over at GCD studio's booth. They had this great vintage tiki hut style booth that was awesome. Some of my favorite lines were Vintage Boy, love those rocket ships, I adore the bright fabulous colors in Smoothie shoppe, especially this watermelon paper, and also I thought that it was ridiculously cool that they had a collection named Lydia. Never thought in a million years that there would be a paper collection with my name. You know when you go to gift shops and stuff and they have these racks of pens pencils, keychains and what not, all with names on them? Do you ever think that they had my name. Nope!! Never!! Actually that is not quite true I found a keychain once in Switzerland with my name and a little caption on it written in german, but that did not happen till I was twenty!! The only other major Lydia that came about was in the eighties when Beatle Juice came out, don't ask me how many times I have heard jokes about that one or had people ask me to say his name three times. Anyways I am rambling!!
Also I got to playing with some of the new Core Impressions, and it is no surprise that one of the first ones that I reached for was this fabulous wood grain. After CHA my hubby flew down to meet me and we spent the next four days being big kids in Disney land. What better paper for Chipmunks than tree paper. So excited!

Coffee table book

So as I mentioned before I had the priveledge of doing a make n take over at the Unibind booth at CHA, it was so much fun and what a whirlwind. Loved it. I was also asked to make a little project to display at the booth and so I made this simple Coffee table book. I used the same design through out the book and just changed the location of the papers. I really love how simple it was to create  and I might have to make a few more as gifts

Getting the Mojo going

After being away I felt the need to catch up with all my computer buddies, so I really have not been doing a ton of actually scrapping, however I adored this sketch from over at Cosmo cricket and created this bright and cheery layout.  I turned it on its side to accomodate my horozontal photos.

Hula Hoopin

So as most of you know I am a huge October Afternoon fan and thier new releases do not disappoint, if you have not seen them check out the whole line here. I was lucky enough to be given a package of the paper by Angie Hagist {Thank you} at CHA and I dove into it the second that I got back into my craft room. This layout is the result, I love all the teals and the blues and you can even mix and match some of the farm fresh as well as the Very Merry.

More CHA favorites

Going out for dinner with these gals was without a doubt  the highlight of my trip.

From left to right Me, Mindy Ayers, Kimber Mcgray, Paula Gilarde and Linda Beenson.

There was a huge amount of inspiration at the Jillibean soup booth, this booth has some of my favorite designers and was a hubub of activity. I got to meet up with fellow core gal Kimber Mcgray, I have to tell you that she is incredibly  warm and welcoming and an all round delightful person. Some of the Core gals managed to get together for some dinner and a laugh. It was a complete blast! Most of you will have seen this goodness on my blog already but I wanted to share these groovy new tags as well as some of the cool ideas that were in there booth.

Pebbles Inc. Got me feeling happy with this new collection, I love this color combination, so unique to anything else that I saw. Fabulous! Check out the whole collection here.
So I am having a few glitchy things with blogger as I try to load these photos please forgive the all over the place appearance as I try to fix it. More to come!!

Where to start (pic heavy)

Wow what an incredible week!! Just got home last night and this morning I have been soaking up the hugs from my boys I missed them so much. Now on to the goods. CHA was amazing, there was so much to see, it was hard to know where to start. So there is no surprize that Core-dinations was my favorite. These new cardstocks rocked and the possiblities are endless. Core-dinations teamed up again with Jenni Bowlin for some fabulous new texture and colors. The Cosmo cricket textures are even better in person and the Jillibean soup cardstock, just plain rocks. The booth was filled with all sorts of inspiration, Including these new pages from me, that are also seen in the New Core-dinations Catalogue.

My favorite collections were Cosmo Cricket, there was not a single thing in there three new releases that I did not LOVE LOVE LOVE. There booth was jammed packed with projects, ideas and mini books. I was so giddy that I had a hard time talking to Julie, felt like a total fool, but I am sure all you paper addicts out there understand!!
The next on my must have list was October Afternoons new Fly a kite collection. This playful collection is fabulous with a little blue bird, pup and strawberry. The other great thing here was that I got a chance to meet and chat with Angie Hagist and Charity Hassel these 2 talented ladies were fantastic and even hooked me up with a couple of the new papers. You will be seeing these used shortly, they have been calling my name all week.
So for right now these are some of my pictures, I took 400 or so. Sooooo I have a few more to go through and get to you. I got some great shots of some of the Core-dinations Team. That was another HUGE highlight of my trip.
See you tommorrow
Lydia
