Today is the day

Well today is the day that the Jillibean Soup guest designers are announced, and it does not look like I made the cut. Darn it!! Oh well there is always next time. In the mean time here are the projects that I made. At the time I did not have any of their marvelous spots to work with, so I tried to create things with similar product or create a similar style. For instance on the Halloween card, the scallop edges around the spider are just made with a circle punch.


The frog paper is just to cute too resist so simply cutting it out of the pattern paper and using it as a focal point made a great get well card.

Last but not least and my current favorite layout is this.

I adore these papers and how well they mix and match.

The chipboard started its life as a plain Scenic Route house, I ran it through my

cuttle bug with the Sissix Hello Kitty folder, I wanted it to look like the graham cracker houses we build as a kid, then inked it this topaz color. The wreath is then sewed on {get out your glasses for that task, Whoa small} for the snow, I used my diamond glaze and sprinkled some fine sand on top and then when it dried I painted it white.

Lastly added my bling, brad door knob and my little man and there you have it.

Jillibean Sketch and new October Afternoon

I found this great sketch over at the Jillibean soup blog and it worked perfect for these bath photos that I have and I love love love these *new* October Afternoon farm fresh papers, I got my hands on some and I will definitely need to get some more. Most of you know of my extreme love of buttons, I mean I really love buttons I have literally thousands, but I can't help myself it is hard for me to do a layout without them. In this layout I used one to make this little fish, I used a tiny orange button and the petals from a flower punch for fins.

Summer's last hurrah!

Yesterday was such a beautiful fall day, the low sun light, makes everything just sparkle and glow, defiantly a good day to be outdoors. I was inspired to head to my local nursery, where I bought some magnificent new tress. My home is a fall home and the colors inside and out come to life right about now, so the trees I bought reflect that. A white flowering dogwood who's leaves turn a bright red, a tall and stringy Katsura with heart shaped leaves that turn golden, a sugar maple that will turn copper, and a soaring (one day 80-100ft) European Beech that will retain its lime leaves until the springs new growth pushes them off.This is the Katsura, beautiful eh? Fall is a great time for planting, so with the weather man predicting sun for this week I will probably not be scrapping, I will be outside in the garden. This layout is one I created for Daily Inspirations celebrating the toys of summer. As for me an my home, we welcome fall.

Summer's last hurrah!

Taking up space

Time again for another Make it yours Challenge over at SBE, this time I recreated this fabulous layout by Linda Harrison. When I saw it I immediately thought of the quote " If your not living on the edge your just taking up space" It was hugely popular when I was a teen, and was written on the back of my No Fear Shirt. {Does this age me??} Anyways, the quote was perfect for these photos of my son and his best friend and their climbing wall experience this year. Remember these boys are 3.5 years old and that is about forty feet up. I am so proud that both of them made it to the top.

Taking up space

Story Time and a fractured collar bone

Well this week started with a bang, yesterday my little one fell onto his tonka fire truck and fractured his collar bone. Got Mommy real scared, because he is not fully talking yet and could not tell Mommy where the Ouchy was. He would not move his head or turn his neck and because I was not sure if he had hit his head or not, my 20 month old son went for his first ride in an ambulance. After Examination and ex-rays the doctor informed me that I have one tough little guy. He said the good news is that we don't have to do anything it will heal on it's own, the bad news is there is nothing we can do for him. Tylenol and off we go. PHEW!! Deep breath, thank goodness, I am glad it was not worse.

In other news........
I finally got my hands on some yummy Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. I have been in a bit of a vintage, shabby mood lately and this was perfect. I just love these little birds!! I will be back to my playful bright self soon. I tend to scrap by mood and it has been a little darker as of late.

Story Time and a fractured collar bone

Toot 'n from the roof tops

With October magazines now hitting the shelves I can finally share my good news, this month I have layouts in three different magazines. It is awesome!! The first is in SBE, in there make it yours column. The second is in Creating Keepsakes, this one made me do a little happy dance in the grocery store, {the stock boy must have thought I was nuts}. This is my first publication with them. and the third is the Shine ad in Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. {sorry no picture my Mom stole the magazine for bragging rights, but you can find it on my my blog here} What a month!!! I have had a crazy wonderful weekend my husband was in logger sports, I am so proud of him he placed 2nd in the novice Canadian championship double buck. My son also did the nail driver competition. Let's just say he has a lot of heart at this point and I am very proud of him too!Since I can't actually do a post with out something crafty I will share with you a quick Halloween Card that I made using the Cuttle Bug folder, skeletal scrolls. Hocus Pocus Core-dinations and this adorable bling brad by doodlebug. TFL :)

We read and a Core tutorial

Good Monday morning ladies, this morning I have a tutorial to share with you. Over at 3 Scrappy boys, the very talented Amy Coose issued a challenge to use our left over alphabets. Since getting my cutter I rarely use my chipboard letters and I have a ton just lying around, so I used them to create the column of letters seen in this layout. After posting I had several requests for a tutorial, so this ones for you girls. Forgive the quality, this is my first video and I only have a little webcam. Hope you enjoy and give it a try. You've got to be kidding

I am 100% sure that most of you can relate on some level or another, to the kind of week that I have had. Crazy busy, very little time to yourself, guests, mess and chaos. Every time you try and get something done the "helpers" go right behind you and undo it. When I took this photo, it was either take pictures or cry. I am glad that I took the photos, but at the time I just wanted to pull my hair out. My Gift to me

When I saw the new Jenni Bowlin Studio Cardstock, the rich red, warm cream and black with soft brown, I immediately thought Christmas. These are the ones that I chose to use.

It is my birthday tradition to decorate the christmas tree and last year, with my boys being so young and my ornaments so breakable, I decided to decorate the tree after they went to bed. For me trimming the tree is one of the best parts of Christmas.
